CAELinux on HP Pavillion dv7 was created by Chris M
Hello all,

I am a student who was very interested in installing CAELinux on my new laptop. I was unable to do this, however, due to Ubiquity faling to make grub for me. I've tried for hours and hours looking all over the internet for solutions. Reinstall grub from live cd, copy grub files, setup grub from the boot screen. No luck. I would love to use this distro but I can't install it.

I have no choice but to use Ubuntu 10.10 and pray that the next version of CAELinux will work for me. I know this version is based on Ubuntu 10.04 so I will try to manually install all the software that I want. But after playing with the live cd I really loved the layout and I don't think I can recreate that. I'm not that good.

I would like to thank the developer for making a great product and hope that next time I will have better luck. Also if anyone has any possible solutions then please let me know.

Good news. I tried again after a quick nap and got it installed. It seems like it didn't like making my home directory for some reason. I installed Ubuntu 10.10 and had my home directory installed on a separate hdd. Then I installed CAElinux and just mounted the pre-made home directory. Now to customize.
