SIGSEVG 'segmentation violation' detected. Address 30 was created by Serge-Étienne Parent
I installed Salome-Meca 2009.1 on my Dell Inspiron 640m running OpenSuse 11.2. When I ask for File > New > Geometry, I get a fatal error:

SIGSEVG 'segmentation violation' detected. Address 30
...Click Ok

Attempt to access null object
...Click Ok

Attempt to access null object
...Click Ok

And so on.

I could run Salome-Meca perfectly when my OS was Ubuntu 9.04. The command "glxgears" can be run without error.

I wish I could be more helpful, but my suggestion is to install a newer (if possible) or older version of the graphics-driver. Crashes when entering geo module is more often than not related to the graphics-driver.

Code_Aster release : STA11.4 on OpenSUSE 12.3 64 bits - EDF/Intel version

I am having the similar errors. Claus, your suggestion is to try different graphics drivers. No different graphics drivers exist for my computer that I can find. I have integrated graphics on a intel GM45 motherboard. I know this not ideal but this is what I have.

Is there a way to get more debugging information from these errors? What's strange is if you load a .stp file and then switch to the mesh module, the geometry and mesh are rendered. In the geometry module they are not. See the attached video (Ogg Vorbis Encoding):

I am running Ubuntu 9.10 (32 bit) with Salome installed.

Sincerely,
Jason Nicholson

try these:

1) disable 3d-effect (compiz, etc etc)

2) disable 3d acceleration

If you need to apply 2) to make it works, be ready to expect very poor performances.
