It'd be nice if you could include Xoctave in your next release of CAELinux (whenever that is). I like QtOctave, but I've been using Xoctave lately and really like it (when I'm not using straight up Octave). Its interface is very similar to MATLAB's and it's just nice in general. If it had the ability to print, it could almost directly replace MATLAB, I think. Plus it's only like 5 megs, so it really wouldn't hurt to include it. Check it out here:

The developer is very friendly and fixes bugs on a timely basis, rolling out beta releases in days. Right now it's at the last beta version before stable release. He could use some more feedback too as he spends a lot of his time working on this project.
I especially like the fact that I can just download the binaries for Xoctave itself since it uses pipes to access Octave and does not need to be compiled with Octave (the binaries on the QtOctave site include/use much older versions of Octave).

Post edited by: Jacob A, at: 2009/12/02 22:37
