Selection of mesh elements with mouse was created by Stuebi
I just installed CAE Linux 2008 (before I used 2007). Now I have the problem, that I'm no longer able to select all mesh elements (nodes or edges) within a rectangle I make with the mouse. Selecting single elements is fine. Has anyone experienced same problems?

I have the same problem and can confirm it. I have it with all versions of Salome. I guess, it is a grafical problem of Salome. Congratulation that You were able with version CAELinux 2007 to select with the mouse box!

What do you mean by selecting mesh-elements? Selection of the mesh-elements for info?
Just checked in SalomeMeca 2009.1 (Salome 4.1.4). It is possible to select with rectangle, at least when "Mesh Element Info" dialog is active.

Hello,
Just checked in Salome 5.1.2. It is possible to select with rectangle, but only when "Mesh Element Info" dialog is actived and element is checked for the 'element type'. No selection is possible for 'nodes'. And only elements that are completely covered by rectangle, so 'surface' elements are selected. In the viewer only the surfaces of the selected element are indicated.
I didnot even know you select elements or nodes in this way before.
My question: when is this feature useful, taking into account these restrictions?
