CAELinux without PCOS was created by ottinger
Hi all,
I downloaded CAELinux live CD and everything is OK!
but I have just installed on my hard disk Mandriva2006; are You planning to create a CD with just all needed CAE programs without the operating system? ... as example an .rpm file? ... or similar? This could avoid to create a new partition into hard disk ... and let everyone to upgrade the operating system just one time!

Hello,

thank you very much!

For the moment, we don't plan to create RPM/URPMI/DEB packages of the included softwares, and this for two main reasons:
1) we are not the developpers of these packages and we would prefer that the interested users download directly the official distributions in the latest versions from their official website. The reason is that we would like to contribute to the development of these softwares by redirecting the users to the development teams because they really need your feedback to improve/test their products.
2) due to the number of distribs & versions of Linux, as well as the huge lists of dependencies of these CAE/FEA softwares, it is a very long task to create packages with a good quality for all the users. For the moment, it is much better for us to support only one distribution with a pre-installed / pre-configured set of sotwares.

Even if we don't plan to do it for the moment, we are convinced that this will be an excellent solution to distribute these excellent CAE softwares and we may create some packages for the most popular distro in 2006 if possible.
