Second OS was created by Matthew Bondy
I finally managed to download the iso file and have been playing with this package a bit. I was going to put it in as a second OS on my desktop but the hard drive is small.
My laptop hard drive is already partitioned (backup of windows). Would this cause any problems if I install a second OS? I do not want to lose that data.
Thanks,
- Matt Bondy

First of all: Never backup on the same drive!
Second: if you have a separate partition for linux, then you wont lose your data. Just install CAELinux there and use 'grub' to select OS at each boot.
summed up: You need an empty partition for linux.

Not backing up data on my only main drive is very sensible advice. I will move on my plans to back up to a DVD.
Will the setup utility included create the partition? I seem to recall reading that it can (and a requirement that I defrag my hard drive prior to install).
Do I need something like grub to run a dual boot setup?
Thanks,

I must admit that I don't know if CAElinux includes a partition-resizing utility - I use another Linux.
You can prepare your drive from Windows and just leave some unpartitioned space for linux and then create a partition from the linux-installer.
GRUB is configured during install of CAElinux so you don't need any extra utilities for this.
-Size your win-partition down, leave black space for linux.
-use the installer to create a partition and install linux.
-during the install, you also install GRUB, it will be self-explanatory.
-return here and tell me everything went smoothly
Good Luck©

I was unable to get on this site so I never viewed your reply. Unfortunately the installation did not go smoothly. I did not resize my partition in Vista before installing and the Linux partitioning was not accepted by Windows. After a very late night I managed to get Vista back up and running but Linux (and everything on my drive) had to go.
I plan to re-attempt the installation in a few weeks but I cannot afford the downtime right now. I will be posting a warning in the forum.
