Suggestions to improve performance? (VMWare on XP) was created by Andrew
Hi everyone,
I'm using a dual core 1.9Ghz CPU and 2 gigs ram, but I can't seem to get the CPU usage of CAELinux to exceed ~55%. Any suggestions on how I can use more processing power and make my sims run faster?
I have set the memory allocation in VMWare Player's troubleshooting menu to ~1300Mb, this seems to get the highest performance by avoiding memory swapping. In the CodeAster setup, I specify 2 CPU's and increase the memory allocation as well.
Many thanks in advance,

answered my own question...
if you have multiple core CPU, use VMware Server (also free), you can specify the # of CPU's to use. Or you might try editing the config file in your CAELinux2008 folder, there is a command in there for the number of CPUs.
Also specify 2 CPUs in in Aster before you run the simulation. Now host CPU usage goes to ~85%.
