no SPICE modeler? was created by Nick J.
I mentioned CAELinux on slashdot the other day, and someone asked me if it included a an electrical circuit simulator of any kind. I thought with Linux having the best open source options for SPICE modelers, that it would certainly have one (especially considering how leightweight they typically are). Imagine my surprise when I check out the Doc:GettingStarted wiki page listing all the included software, and I see that there doesn't seem to be anything of that sort. Did I miss it, is the page out of date, or is there really nothing addressing the electrical engineering side of the house?

I've mostly played with the windows toolset, but UC Berkeley's SPICE package is still (correct me if I'm wrong) the de-facto spice standard. There are a bunch of other projects, though, some well developed. I've heard good things about gEDA as well. (gEDA is a more general toolset, IC's layout, schematics, wiring, etc.)

Hi Nick,

being a Mechanical Eng., I am not very familiar with electric-electronic design, so I trust you on that point!

I will try to include the tools that you mention in the next release.

By the way, if you have any other recommendation for electric / electronic engineering, you are welcome !

Best regards

gEDA is pretty popular (actually I had mentioned before, nobody "hear" me, jajjajaj)
gEDA download web: www.geda.seul.org/download.html

I tried kiCAD is pretty cool. It's for electronic drawings. Schematichs, PCBs, and something cool a 3D viewer for the PCBs:evil:
kiCAD web: www.lis.inpg.fr/realise_au_lis/kicad/

See it and answer B)
