I'm confused.

Near the top of the announcement at

caelinux.com/CMS/index.php?option=com_co...;id=37&Itemid=54

it says that Administrator wrote the announcement of CAELinux 2007 on black Friday in April 2007, but at the bottom of the announcement it says it was last modified on November 11 - the day after the timestamp on the .iso file. Is someone laughing behind the webmaster's back?

BTW, as long as I'm here, can anyone confirm that they've worked through the tutorial on referenced on the wiki called "Salome & OpenFOAM tutorial: 3D CFD analysis of a Y-shaped pipe (CAELinux 2007)"?

How did you find it, and in particular, did the mesh conversion go smoothly with OpenFOAM 1.4.1?

Graeme,
I worked through the y shaped pipe example a couple of Months ago, and do not recall any problems. I pretty much followed the steps from the video file.

Some time I would like to try the same example on Code Saturne, which I updated on my system.

Thanks
Robin

Hi Graeme,

it is nearly incredible that you noticed this detail of "dates" ;-)

the explanation is simple (it's not a hacking of the site!), I did not wrote a completely new article to announce CAELinx 2007, but just modified the previous article on CAELinux Beta 3... So there is a mismatch between the actual "created on " date and the last modification date---

For the tutorials, it should work directly as said by Robin (if you are running CAELinux 2007).

@Robin:
this would be great to have the same tutorial for Code-Saturne.
I have put a simple example + video of a Code-Saturne / Salome simulation on my Wiki Contrib page : www.caelinux.org/wiki/index.php/Contrib:JCugnoni

If you feel like doing the Y-shaped pipe tutorial for Saturne, just let me know so I will not start working on it...

PS: my procedure for the video tutorials is also on my contrib page

Yeah, well, actually it says black Friday in 2006, but who's counting? :-) I've got into the habit of looking for dates on lots of things I read on the internet - it lets me know (usually) how stale the information is. Incidentally, I think the News->Latest News item on the release of CAElinux 2007 might have got a lot more hits if it had a late 2007 date on it.

I'm looking forward to trying it out, once I can download it. I did try on Easter Saturday, but couldn't ftp through the local university's firewall. I think I'll have to visit an internet cafe, since I have only dialup at home.

Regards, Graeme.

Joel,
Thanks for uploading the tutorial file for the step problem in Code Saturne, I hope to work my way through it within the next few days. Also, thanks for posting the information on Wink, it looks like a handy tool for documenting "how to" information.

I thought that your post on Feb 4th on Code Saturne was the same Y-shaped pipe example, but in reading the post, it is a different problem.

Thanks
Robin
