Code_Saturne fails !!! was created by J. Almanstoetter
Hi Joel,
I have tried to use the example provided with Code_Saturne in /opt/saturne/examples. I have started the GUI with SaturneGUI in STUDY1/CASE1/DATA and used the lance file in the SCRIPTS directory.
The result shows that the binary cs13.exe fails with a SIGSEV error.
Since I am not familiar in setting up a run in Code_Saturne correctly, it would be good to have an example from which it is known that it works. The question for me is that if the binary has some error (memory leak, etc.) or if it is due to wrong input. Are there test cases for Code_Saturne available somewhere ?
regards,
Jürgen

Hello,
the Code-Saturne version included in CAELinux 2007 is the very first 1.3 release available on EDF website. Unfortunatelly, no complete example is provided with this version. The compilation / installation were successfull, but testing was not possible due to this lack of example. I suspect that some changes of the variables in the launch script may be necessary, but it is hard to tell with the present state of the documentation of the code.
So it is better to consider that this first Code-Saturne release is a test-build and not a stable / validated install of Code-Saturne.
If you can find your way through it and have an example running correctly, I would be really interested to have your feedback.
Regards,
Joël Cugnoni

Here is the announcement of the Stand-Alone Saturne 1.3.1 Binary package, I think that it is interesting for you:
Dear CAELinux users,
Code-Saturne, an industrial level CFD code developed by EDF, was first included in CAELinux 2007. But due to its beta stage at this time, the code could not run properly. This issue is now fixed: I have developed a stand-alone binary package including a pre-compiled (and running) version of the latest Code-Saturne 1.3.1 release.
To install this code, you will simply need to decompress the archive in /opt/saturne and that's it!!
Using this code, one can easily do CFD calculation like the "pro": create a fluid domain mesh from CAD in Salome, generate groups for boundary conditions, export the MED mesh, prepare the directories for the study (see README.txt of Saturne) and start the Saturne GUI to define the simulation parameters. Code-Saturne can even work straight on a cluster or multi-core CPUs thanks to the use of MPI!! Post processing can be done either in Salome or in any Ensight compatible postprocessors (Paraview, OpenDX, Visit,...).
This package should also work in other distro if the pre-requisite are present (python, gcc, g77, gfortran, autoconf, make, libXML2, Tkinter & Tix).
To download the package , please visit this page:
caelinux.com/CMS/index.php?option=com_co...;id=43&Itemid=40
Additionnally, do not forget to read the README file!!
Now, I am waiting for your feedback... I hope that you will enjoy this new addition.
PS: this package will be part of CAELinux 2008.
