Hi David

Noobish question my last one... :-)

I had used the default code saturne installer... not the "coupling" installer...

It runs allright Code Saturne coupled version...

It would be fine if Code Saturne could be ported to Debian Stable packages... :-)

Some ppl ( not me :-) ) do not know how to install some package from source... If it would be available in the repositories as a precompiled binary for some distro (Debian, (U Xu Ku ) buntu ) many more users would benefit from this package, and source code would be available in SourceForge or EDF for the worldwide developer community, very much like openFOAM...

I have already compiled my own solvers and Utilities in OpenFOAM and made them available...

I just think that porting such a useful app like Code Saturne ( or Code Aster, Syrthes or Salome ) to one of the main distros would increase its use nfold.... :-) Just my opinion... :-)

Best regards

Alex

You are right, but this is not our highest priority as for now. FYI, Code_Saturne is already available as a FreeBSD port, and any contribution would be welcome in this area (we are not packaging specialists...)

Mmmm... might happen sooner than you think

A forum and bug-tracker will be opened really soon, and perhaps more in a not so far future. Sourceforge is indeed a great thing but we want to remain on the institutional website of EDF.

Regards,
David

ps: SALOME was being packaged by some OpenSUSE folks (see SALOME forums) but it is a huge task due to the numerous dependencies.
