Code_Aster fails on blended corner was created by Rafael
Hello,

I'm brand new in Salome. I'm fiddling with different test cases and I found one "no-go" example. I try to run simple static analysis (generated via Linear Elasticity Wizard) and it seems the topology of the mesh on blended corner (regardless of the used algorithm / discretisation density) can't be interpreted by Code_Aster solver. Here goes the actual error message from .mess file:

!

!
! <EXCEPTION> <FACTOR_21> !

! Matrice non factorisable : !
! pivot vraiment nul à la ligne : 355 !
! pour le noeud N75 et la composante DX !

Problematic node#75 is the yellow one on the corner in the picture

I can't exactly understand the error message (I don't speak French). Did anyone have similar problem? Do you know how to resolve this issue (other than simplifying the model by suppressing all fillets ;))

Regards

Try posting your .mess file - there might be something in there.

the message means that your matrix is singular, that the pivot element is zero at line 355 (which does not means very much in my understanding), this zero pivot is related to the DOF in x direction (composante DX) at node N75.
Normally your model has a rigid body movement in at least the x direction. So you need to add some more constraints to the model (by the command IMPL_DDL [DDL or Degre de Liberte translates to DOF] or by the Salome wizard).

And as Claus already stated, if you need more advice, pls send your *.comm, mesh and *.mess files.

Hi,

attached are the files.

I tested several different models and was able to recreate the problem every time on blended corner regardless of constraints applied or other part topology. I've used wizard to create the .comm file.

Happy Easter!!

Hoi Rafael,

I cannot figure out why your mesh cannot be computed. I added roughly the same fillet to the box, meshed the fillet and it works fine.
In the attached hdf file, I added my fillets and mesh (mesh_2) and used your comm-file. Runs without problems.
So, again, I donot know the cause of you trouble and will have a further look.

Of course the first time I forgot to archive the file.
So hope all goes well now.
