Can't get piston tutorial working was created by Nicolas
Hi,
I'm a newbie in Salome-Meca. I have tried it in CAELinux 2009 and it works but now I downloaded last version of Salome-Meca to my laptop that is running Ubuntu 10.04 and can't get the newbie's tutorial working.
Once I define the wizard (page 15 of the new version of the tutorial) and click on "Run", nothing happens. When I click on "Status"
"The study case is not running
The result given by ASTK is 'SUBMISSION ERROR'"
Thank you in advance,
Nicolas

Code_Aster release : STA11.4 on OpenSUSE 12.3 64 bits - EDF/Intel version

Try disabling 'interactive follow-up' for the study and see if it starts calculating - if it does, then have a search for:
'gdm' 'TCP disallow' 'interactive follow-up' 'salome' 'code_aster' 'aster'
both on this forum and on the code_aster forum - it's a common problem that's easily fixed, if that indeed is the problem. Otherwise come back here

Claus

Hi,
I've tried some things that I found in CAELinux and Code_Aster forums and can't get it...
Well, I guess I better come back to my thesis for now.
Any Suggestion?

I use Linux Mint and the Salome Meca 2010.1 because the newer version 2010.2 does not work for me which 2010.1 does - partially.
I cant get it to open an external application in a new window but apart from that is works. And the interactve follow-up is indeed an external window and so is e.g. the help [F1] I don't knw why.
So to get the calculations done I did what Claws proposed and from Salomé do:
1. Activate the Aster module by clicking the Aster button or select it from the drop down list.
2. In the File menu select "Preferences" (or hit ^R)
3. Select the Aster module settings
4. Uncheck the "Interactive follow up"
The above will apply to new studies.
For existing studies You will also need to - from the Aster module of Salomé - right click the study, select "Edit" and uncheck the "Interactive follow up" there as well.

Post edited by: Torben, at: 2010/11/20 18:44

... oh, yes, one thing more: I can't get the solver started by clicking the Run button in the Salomé panel. Instead I right click the Aster case name (default "new_case") in the object browser window and select "Run" from the pop-up menu. That works. Hope it helps.
