caelinux 2008 failed to boot was created by Pei-Ying Hsieh
Hi,

I have downloaded the latest caelinux 2008 (iso version), checked md5sum OK, burned the iso to DVD disk using K3B. When I tried to boot up my computer from the liveDVD, the system failed to boot. It only got to the second OK (system clock something?).

I actually downloaded the iso 3 times and burned 3 DVDs. Tried on 2 computers and had the same problem.

My computers are:
1. AMD X2 6000+, 4 GB DDR2-800, SATA 320 GB drive
2. AMD X2 3800+, 4 GB DDR-400, SATA 320 GB drive.

Anyone experience the same problem?

I have the exact same problem, except for the architecture (AMD Athlon 64 3500+).

I Burned the ISO and verified burning both on Windows using ImgBurn, and Debian Linux, using K3B.

The ISO image has the correct MD5 code.

Hi,

that's strange... I am personnally using both a Core2Duo laptop and an AMD X2 4200+ desktop to develop and test CAELinux... and it runs fine on both platforms.

Did you try to enable / disable the AMD PowerNow feature in the BIOS. If I remember well, I have mine set to disable.

Additionnally, which motherboard's chipset and disk controller do you have? Could you report the error output in more details?

You could also have a look at PCLinuxOs.com forums, they might already have a solution for this issue.

Sorry for these problems, but I am pretty sure that it is a matter of BIOS or Kernel options.

Dear Admin,

I tried on an Intel box and caeLinux 2008 booted up fine.

For the AMD X2 6000+ box, boot up process faied at:

setting clock (localtime): Tue May 20 09:49:52 CDT 20008 [ OK ]

Then, froze.

Most likely a pcLinuxOS issue.

I will look for assistance from the pcLinuxOS forum.

Thanks!

Hi to everybody!
Thanks for the great work and for the support.
I have the same problem: the boot of the live dvd freezes at the line setting clock (localtime):... [OK]

That's very strange because I used caelinux2007 on the same machine without any problem!!

Pei, did you find a solution?

Thaks

Best regards

Andrea
