Hi all,
I know that this site is dedicated to bringing opensource software in the field of Engineering. Since this is more on finite element anlysis in various fields, don't you think that its nice to have a section somewhere in the wiki dealing with the basics concept of finite element? This will encourage more users, especially students to use the software if they have some theory to learn that uses the software.
I hope that a lot of people will share notes and encourage more people to use opensource.
Thank you.

Yes,
this would be a great idea. But creating a section is in my opinion not enought to make the contribution start:
on the Wiki anybody can create a new section or page, but only few people did contribute until now. So I think that having some initial content on the subject would help much in motivating spontaneous contributions. So now the question is: who is ready to write an introduction on the subject?
Let me know what do you think on the subject. I am convinced that it would be a great addition to have some theory/basics on the wiki, but I don't know how to make it start...
In the same area, we could try to encourage schools / professors to use the Wiki to publish course material on Finite Elements (theory and practice). This would definetely be a wonderfull thing if this can happen. W
The time being at the wishes for the new year, I will add this subject to my list of important points for my contribution to Open-source / Open-knowledge.
Best wishes for the new year !!

Hi!
Actually, I started a section named "FEM Learning", now is poor, thres is only an article copied from wikipedia.
I hope people contribute to structure a strong section in the wiki, this way all of us can learn, at least a bit.
Good Luck!
PS: In the wiki I don't know how to post pretty equations.

Great News!!
This is a really good idea to put some theoretical introduction in the Wiki.
I am sorry for the equations: I cannot install the Latex/MathML package on this webserver, so the wiki cannot render equations by itself.
The only solution is to convert the equations into images and upload each image separatelly from the text... not very nice, nor simple, but I don't know any other possibility.
PS: maybe it exists some applets that can render equations ...
I'll see what I can do for this.
Regards,
Joël Cugnoni

Hi,
good new, I found a nice solution to implement Latex on the Wiki.
Look at the Sandbox for an example:
www.caelinux.org/wiki/index.php/Sandbox
I think that it should work well now!!
Thank you very much for your contribution and keep up the good work!!
