Problem with paraFoam was created by Jerry Black
Hello,
I've just started using CAELinux 2010 and I'm having a problem with paraFoam. After I run an OpenFOAM case and start paraFoam, it reads in the model geometry, but it doesn't read in the results. I'm using the OpenFOAM terminal on a HP G60 laptop with an AMD 64 bit processor. I've tried CAELinux 2008 on a different machine and paraFoam works fine - reads in the results and sets up the screen just like the CAELinux OpenFOAM tutorial. But 2010 just doesn't do it. What am I doing wrong?
I must thank those responsible for CAELinux for their efforts - it's fantastic to have available.
Thank you,
Jerry Black

Hi
i have been using openfoam in CAELinux recently and did not observe such behaviour... strange.
Could you tell me more about your simulation: which solver did you use? how big is your mesh? if you type 'ls' in your current case directory, how many time steps do you see? Did you use a parallel solver (in which case you should run reconstructPar after solution to merge the results of each cpus)? How do you run paraview/paraFoam? from OpenFoam terminal or from the application menu?

Thanks for your response.
I ran the icoPipe1 tutorial from the CAELinux tutorials. I used icoFoam to run the case - in fact, I followed the CAELinux tutorial exactly (couldn't use FoamX, of course). There are 25 time steps in the case directory, as in the tutorial. I ran paraFoam from the OpenFOAM terminal in the CAELinux menu. I'm running the case in /home/jerry/OpenFOAM/run/icoPipe1, if that makes any difference. Attached is a screenshot of the paraView window at startup, after I clicked the apply button.
Thanks for your help,
Jerry Black

Oops, no screen shot attached - it was a little above the limit.

Here's the screen shot - got it's size under the limit.
And now got the pixels under the limit, I think...we'll see.
Thanks again,
